now if your cam is freezing up, or wont work, or is giving any problems, my best suggestion is as follows. (and don't think you need an expensive cam ~ my d-link (6 dollars after rebate, works as well as my cybershot and my vivacam )

• make sure you are current on all windows updates 
• uninstall the cam and all software that came with it. 
• shut down all running programs. 
  • i suggest using something like EndItAll to shut down everything.  
• then reinstall the SOFTWARE , 
• then you can reinstall the cam. 
• reboot the computer. 
• do NOT start cam tho. go to the manufacturer  site  and check for driver updates. 
• reboot again if you update drivers.

cam not detected when you try to use yahoo? does the cam work in the  programs that came with it? does it work elsewhere?  an excellent tip from RedneckRepairs is to check here> go to control panel, multimedia, make sure that the cam is selected as the video capture device. ( should have a check mark )  sometimes a scanner or an older/ previously installed cam or device can still be designated. 

i also suggest  that  you close as many extra programs  when you run cam.  i have 256 in ram and my cam will freeze ...... just a tip.

How to install a web cam..

use avi or other sources on your yahoo cam?  sure with softcam

Cam image upside down and in triplicate? no ya haven't been cloned..... just find the VidCap32 program that came with your cam,  (no vidcap ?  click here to  download it from yahoo )  click on options, then video format. change the resolution ( try 160x120, if that  try 176 x 144 ) and check RGB ~ if its 24, try 16, if 24 try 16. click okay then close out the vidcap program. restart cam program and no more triple you =o) ~thankies to slykk_1 for making me dig for that fix   ~ a good place to start for most cam probs.
