Now this is not help if you can log in on the id EVERYWHERE but chat... if that's the case.. you have a chat ban.. either you got the boot... or clicked the X , thus logging off messenger but the name sticks in chat.... its accidental.. you probably didn't do anything....just don't try to log in immediately ..and you usually can get back on in a day or so.. sometimes a few days....   don't try to log in for a day... see if it clears the id. 

OR try this...... go to mail.yahoo.com and log in.... then log out. then click the link to log out completely

IMPORTANT> several folks have mailed us saying they had 6 ids open in different rooms.. then they couldn't log those ids in again.... just a tip. yahoo only lets 3 ids in on an ip.....  more than that, they think your spamming or running bots, just a tip.. DON'T run MULTIPLE IDS LIKE THAT!! 

back to security lock outs .. if this is what you see when you try to log in on messenger... 

here's what may have happened....  you got the boot from a chat room or got an isp disconnect while in chat. then id wont log in.......... STOP TRYING and let yahoo clear it...... usually less than an hour) NOW ~ theoretically if you go to the page linked on the above image.... and log in correctly. OR!!!  SOMEONE has tried to log in on the account several times. INCORRECTLY... so the BIGG"Y" locks you up  for at least 12 hours. Yeppers kiddies.. someone can just mess you up and yahoo wont do diddly squat... except prevent you, yes you, the legitimate account owner, access

So first thing is DEFIANTLY make sure you have a good password  ~ letters and numbers and more than 6 characters .... 

second.. if someone THREATENS to take your account... click that abuse button and report them... because they may then go lock up your account....

and third,  have more than one account.. so that you have a back up if some ydiot locks you up....

NOW ~ theoretically if you go to the page linked on the above image.... and log in correctly... you SHOULD be able to get back your id easy as pie... BUT if you see something like the image below..... with the security word, you may not have any luck. Several report doing the info correctly several times and it never logs in.

So what's left to do? Can you get the id back at all?  Just keep trying the id once a day.. with the correct password  and eventually maybe the idiots will get tired and stop locking it...  DON'T REQUEST A NEW PASSWORD>>> DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING!!!! 

the reality is that the BIGG"Y" will do nothing to protect your accounts, even if you do use the wallet services, or pay for a service ~ 

they do log the ips of the people attempting to log into each account.... but take no action at this time against them...

Another possible solution~ remember the ypager fix with username files? 

go to c/ program files/ yahoo/ messenger and delete the username.ab ad username.wcp files when offline ....reboot.. and try again... and just a note here.. you may need to remove all the .ab and .wcf files you find there... and *sighs* its not USERNAME.ab.... it will be your yahoo id name... like nhyrvana.ab ~ also clear your temp internet files C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files and relog in on messenger to reset the cookie..... this has helped SOME ~ but over all the log out issues are related to yahoo just not seeing you log out... willingly or otherwise....

We have been told of one account that had over 45 diff ip sets trying to log in...  but supposedly the BIGG'Y" can do nothing to  protect you from these folks... they have no LAST IP verification system to give the rightful account owner a leg up on logging in ( for example ~ if my last logged in correctly ip for my account is 123.456.789 , then when I try from 123.456.987 THE attempt to LOG IN from this IP is seen as a true attempt, not a lock attempt... because heuristics tells yahoo that the true account owner is located in the 123.456.xxx ip series.... and all others are ABUSIVE ATTEMPTS TO LOCK THE ACCOUNT, a denial of service. 

You can try reporting that your account is locked to yahoo... click NO on any log in help page.. and send a request to yahoo to help you.... but basically.... all you can do is wait the ydiots out.... and try once a day..

other problems and tips....

changed your password and now you can not log in?  when i recently changed a password, i got an email from yahoo telling me i had changed the password and had to click the link in the email and verify my alternate email address before the name would log in again. 

SO! first thing, before you change that password, CHANGE and verify your alternate email address~!!!!
