Deep offered this "hotkey" kind of tip, which we thought was pretty darn smart.

On your start menu, under programs, make a folder, and drop in shortcuts for commonly used programs. You could also assign then a hotkey ~ but having them all in one place makes it easy to find the shortcut and launch the program, because as DeepThawt says, its a bear to try and figure out which shortcut holds which hotkey.

thanks DeepThawt

Ever want to set a HOTKEY to open a program, and don't want to download some tool? Find the icon of the program and right-click on the icon. Choose Properties from the menu and make sure you're in the Shortcut
tab. Place your cursor in the Shortcut key field, pick a function key or a letter you would like to assign the shortcut to, and press it. Hit Apply in the bottom-right corner. To open the program, press Ctrl + Alt + "Shortcut Key" or the function
key you assigned to it.

Want to undo it? then you would find the icon again of the program..... and right click it.... then clear the shortcut field.... then press apply and it should be undone....

they say f7, f9, f12 are also empty fkeys and good to program .... f2 lets you rename files.... and f3 is for finding files... :)

thanks Marjorie
