now....the basics.............you have 2 kinds of macs, 68k macs and powerpc macs, 68k macs are more limited......they can only go up to mac os 8.1, netscape navigator 4.08 and i think explorer 4 but i have to confirm explorer.......

netscape has its own java built in and up to explorer 4.5 you can use java virtual machine for the mac....... explorer 5 uses MRJ   (mjr= mac runtime java)

any browser netscape or ie 3.0 or higher will work for html chat

to get the latest mac runtime java is http://developer.apple.com/java/

for most shareware www.download.com is cnets mac site for shareware and www.macorchard.com is for excellent internet mac stuff

need more help.....try the macintosh room in yahoo chat or in yahoo chat help. sometimes some very savvy mac users hang in there.......

finally....mac chat clients for yahoo

• miCHAT .... be aware there are some issues with support lately and that the addition of webcams to yahoo chat has messed up room lists. you may have a hard time getting in at first, and into full rooms. gone.
• a second one i stumbled across....another mac chat client for yahoo (osx) Charla ..nice :)
• chitchat basic... * had moved* now has cams, and web radio and nice support from the programmer 
• eriks  mac version of ychat~ has webcam support.!!!!!!  .is basic. but solid
• i need info about each client if anyone has, a quick low down on  the good and bad...since i don't use a mac.
