| All mics connect to the sound card on the back panel of your computer.
just turn off your computer and monitor........yes you have too!! Turn the computer around a bit so you can see the back panel. look for a narrow, metal plate with several small, open jacks (holes) in it. This is your sound card. You may have 2, 3 or 4 jacks there.
Common ones are line in ->)), line out <-((, and the mic jack. We are most interested in the line out and mic jacks. newer comps will have green and pink connections, easier!
if you have just a stand mic..... you will connect the plug into the mic slot.....(item 2) if you have a headset mic..... you will plug the mic into the mic slot ( item 2) and the headphone plug into your speaker output jack (item 1) now just restart your comp......and now run the audio wizard ......then return to yahoo chat :) hear an echo in your headset? This is normally caused by the mic not being muted in the playback volume controls. Go to - START,
- PROGRAMS,
- ACCESSORIES,
- ENTERTAINMENT or MULTIMEDIA (if you have Windows 95),
- open Volume Controls
- Look for Microphone balance and volume slider (if you do not see Microphone, within the volume controls go to Options then Properties. At the bottom of the window, scroll down the list, then check the box next to the Microphone option. Click OK.
(Playback section) - Make sure Mute is checked below the mic or make sure there is no check in the box labeled Select below the mic.
- some people may need to have the LINE IN BALANCE box muted for their mic to work
