Page views, searched for terms, and referring links are the what you are interested in. Pay attention to that information in your site statistics. So what to do to up those hits, or at least generate a little look-see traffic ? !! avoid the greedyhits and places that swear if you submit your site to a thousand search engines with their tool, you will get tons of traffic. traffic in your mail box known as SPAM!!
Most of the traffic to Nhyrvana comes via search engines and links from other sites.... this page has EXACTLY what we have done here, and done for friends. in doubt? ask Shearologist or HyperMouzie ~ they were about to submitamillionlinks on some site, and i said. hey... you need to make sure your site is ready for the search engines and spiders... so. what first.....
Many swear by meta tags. (sticky sauce has a nice tool for making meta's.)

<meta name="author" content= your name goes here..... This is purely for info, not always needed......you can use your company or site name here as well.>
<meta name="copyright" content= Put your company or site name here.... good notice to have up>
<meta name="keywords" Keep these real! based on your actual content! Don't throw in 200 words that might someday be relevant. If you sell dog food. Don't throw in keywords for cat food, or grooming! And be very careful! Recently marble slab and cold slab ice cream companies got into a legal battle over using the others company name in their meta tags. Play fair. It is actually copyright infringement.>
<meta name="description" content= What the page or site is about...20 words max! Some search engines may say they take more.. But why abuse it... You risk none being seen.>
<meta name="robots" content="index, follow" This tells web spiders to follow the links off your main page. you can change your robots file to just go to certain pages.>
Because of the tricks people have used in meta tags ~ many search engines are not relying totally on them anymore. Some search engines focus on content, or may have stricter keyword limits. Some people throw in hundreds of words, but a few well chosen words work best. Avoid overkill. Don't rely only on meta tags!
Another way to increase your standing in searches is to make sure
you list your site name in the <title tag. Then add a brief content
description. Don't just leave up index or my page....or whatever in the title. Think of the title tag as another place to increase your exposure to search engines. Change them from page to page so that it increases the range of listings on the searches. For example.. nhyrvana * messenger chat help * for messenger help page.... And nhyrvana * chat help * for another... so if you look for chat help.... you get at least two listings......
- notice the name in the top bar of browser
- the title is a term most would search for
- and it is also in the text
Make sure your content reflects what people search for. ( Search for your site on google )
If you sell dog food, talk about the flavors of dog food, the ingredients, the nutritional value. Use the site/ product name as much as you can. make it relevant to the real world searches people will use or are using.
Look at search phrases used, who links you, and how they get there.
Don't toss in info about the packaging unless you want to come up on container searches.... Use as much content as you can that relates to your product..... Don't wander far...
Meta tags, content, title, favicons, and linkage....All of these when used together can help you create a stronger web presence on searches.
these are the steps i have used on my site and sites i have built for others. i have had a reasonable amount of success with them ~ no guarantees of success or traffic implied ... but if it does work for you ~ let me know~!!
btw. if you ask shear or hyper, they will tell you that they never did use one of those submit tools..... we worked together to do exactly as this page said.... shear boast that after doing this tweaking, her site kept going over her data allotment on geo with in a week. and she HAD to get a real domain.....
