After you install Virtual Machine you can check (Incoming VM Version) and (Existing VM Version) C:\Windows\vminst.log file using WordPad and look for these two lines, Existing VM Version and Incoming VM Version (about 10-12 lines down). or from Start, Run C:\Windows\notepad vminst.log < this will work also. thankies to pave nail for this
| a second way to check.... ~ thanks E2C The easiest way to find the VM version for Windows 2000 is to do a search for the MSJAVA.DLL file and then look at the properties of it for the version. You can go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, system information, software, and likely find it under that heading also but it is just as easy usually to look up the dll file in the search. |

another way to check..... courtesy of Microsoft. "quotes... Here’s how to determine the build number you’re using: - Select Start, then Run.
- On Windows 95, 98, or Me, type “command” (without the quotes). On Windows NT 4.0, 2000, or XP, type “cmd” (again, without the quotes). Hit the enter key.
- In the result command box, type “Jview” (without the quotes) and hit the enter key.
- In the topmost line of the resulting listing, you should see a version number of the form x.yy.zzzz. The final four digits are the version number. "
