winzip is about a 10-20 minute download from the net......evaluation copy is free for 30 days (mine has worked
3 years though :P) ( HANDYBITS also has a small free zip utility ) using
YAHELITE as an example file...... once you have downloaded that file.......you will need to find it.......more than likely, it is in c/ my downloaded files.........if not....... you will need to find it......... ( click start / find/ files/ type in zip.......and search the list ) or.......you can click start....programs.....and click winzip ....... and it will open winzip......... (how ever you find the file is fine!!!....what ever works easiest for you)
if you find in files..... double click the file icon to launch winzip
if you chose to access via start button.....launch winzip..........you will need to have it search for existing winzip files....then select the one you want to open from the list.........
once the file is selected (or ya got this far by clicking the icon......) you should see a screen like this.......... feel free to look about.........see what the options are set for........ or just go for it and click next........
you should see this screen next........ and to open the file..... select the unzip option.......
you should see this screen next..........you have the option here to select a different folder...... ( like selecting c\program files\yahelite if installing yahelite). then click unzip........you can select for it to display the file icon on desk top as well....... or not........ your new program (or whatever) is now where ever you put it and ready to use......... cool tip ............if you would like the icon on your menu instead of desktop.......just put your mouse on it and left click...........(and keep it clicked down........) and drag the icon to the word start..........then the menu will pop up........drag the icon up......to programs............and drop on the programs side........ you can then right click....and select sort by name to alphabetize them.............................

piece of cake :) have fun.....and remember to save the zip files of some of the programs you love!!!! you can store them in your yahoo briefcase .......up to 5mb in size........... always a good back up idea :) have fun....... |
