About

dynsupdt (DyNS updater) is a DyNS updater program designed to work with the DNS redirector provided by http://www.dyns.net
It allows you to have associate a FREE DNS name like yourname.dyns.cx with your ever changing Dialup internet connection.
It is also useful for other things as well like DSL or cable, see their home page for info.

The reason I like DyNS is that they do proper DNS redirection, not JUST HTTP redirects.

After you set up an account with DyNS you can use this small program to keep your DyNS name up to date whenever you log into the internet.

Features

How To...

For many people its enough just to fill in the ____s of the supplied HTTP command string and it will work right away.
For more involved usage see the full description of the protocol.

You can update the settings manually, or wait 30 seconds after editing and dynsupdt will automatically update the DyNS site for you.

When you are satisfied with your setup, press the HIDE button and dynsupdt will disappear and silenty and efficiently keep your DyNS account synchronized to your changing IP address whenever you reconnect to the internet.
To make dynsupdt visible again, simply start the program again and the already running version will reappear.

Tips

If you like to have dynsupdt start automatically when you login:
  1. Move it to your windows folder or other folder used for miscellaneous programs.
  2. Make a shortcut to it in your autostart folder.
  3. If you edit the shortcut and add ANY command line argument to dynsupdt it will hide itself immediately when its starts.
