can you say invalid token? i knew you could.   well rather than clutter up my site with yet another fix for of yahoo screw up, I wandered over to geocities and made a page with most of the fixes that had been tried and worked on it...... this is why NOT to use yahoo/geocities to host your business website.

invalid tokeneven made the yahoo id invalid_token :)  well, imagine my surprise when i get a note  from geo that says

Congratulations, http://www.geocities.com/invalid_token is very popular and has been receiving a large amount of traffic. Your site has become so popular, in fact, that our records indicate that you're using more than the allotted amount of data transfer we provide for a free web site, which is 3GB/month (measured on an hourly basis).

it goes on to tell me that my site may/will be disabled when i go over my allotted data transfer allotments...... then they try and sell me a geo plus package @about $9 a month.........

so i did a little math........and figured that i needed to get 2184 page views an hour to go over the allotment...

after looking in my file manager, and seeing that page was getting less than 50 hits a day, I felt assured that  there would be no problems. (and the fact that the nhyrvana version on geo was not getting such emails , despite traffic  of about 1000 hits  a day still.

until I was messaged and told the site was down. so i went and looked. and took a screen capture.....

and promptly moved the information to my domain.

I promptly emailed eGocities with  the math and demanded an explanation. none has come forth to this time. in fact, with less then 10 hits a day, they are still disabling the site at least twice a day.

shame on you eGocities......shame on you......

THE MATH ...3 gigabytes. that's   (3*1024*1024*1024)  divided by the number of files I have and the file size......(2*1024)  ~ i would have to have over a million views to  go over my data allotment....... 1,572,864  to be exact. or 52428 a day or 2184 views an hour to go over the 3 GB a month allotment that eGocities has set forth

so, based on the math, I am going to call a spade. a spade, and pronounce this possibly the worst and most heinous marketing ploy I have seen in years. not only did eGocities add a secondary pop up to the pages  it hosts , but they have summarily sent these unsubstantiated emails and closed sites for no reason other than selling the egoplus service.
